02.Oct.09 New album “Wide Awake” from Big Gigantic for FREE

Yet again Big Gigantic brings us a completely free album chocked full of kick ass. “Fire it Up” (their previous release) was a an awesome chunk of music with a sound that is uniquely Big G. You can tell Dominic’s production from a mile away – in a good way. “Wide Awake” continues where “Fire it Up” left off. Funky rhythms, prominent saxophone leads and dope ass synths come together into another must have release from this Boulder, CO based band. The album drops on 1320 and was mastered by Alex B (of Pnuma Trio).

While the album is free, we urge those of you that can afford it to make a donation to the band for their efforts. It’s worth every penny! You can find the donation link here.

You can get the album here. Also be sure to check out the Big G website and MySpace.

01.Oct.09 Low End Theory podcast 7: GLK x MAH

Low End Theory podcast 7 just came out recently and it’s a good one. For those of you that don’t know, Low End Theory is a club night in LA that boasts some of the most innovative and hype-heavy electronic acts in the game and has hosted artists such as Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, SamIYam, Glitch Mob, Daedalus and Daddy Kev to name a few. Coming together to throw these amazing nights of music every Wednesday, Low End Theory is a prominent influence in this rapidly evolving electronic music culture we are witnessing and contributing to right now.

Their podcasts feature a resident artist and one special guest every release. This time around they present: Gaslamp Killer featuring Mary Ann Hobbs. You can get that podcast here. You can get the other six podcasts on Low End Theory’s website.

30.Sep.09 Mr. Invisible’s Aswell destroying the MPC

I cannot believe that I hadn’t thrown this up on the blog yet. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him throw down live 3 times (one being our Bele Chere late night show). Yes, this is all in real time. And this version is not nearly as smooth as the performances we’ve been seeing lately. Just try and beat that. You can’t.

30.Sep.09 MicroKorgs kick ass. Here’s why…

Wanna grab one of these sooner than later. Love the sounds and key action (in spite of it’s semi cheap plasticy feel). This video was recorded by a guy who makes beats under the name Dorian Concept. Scope out his MySpace for more tracks.

29.Sep.09 New business cards arrived!

The matte finish and 14 pt cardstock were worthwhile additions. They look and feel a lot nicer than the average 13pt glossy jobs you see a lot. Liking these much better than our old design.
