01.Sep.09 It’s official: The World Grotto is closing

We had known about this for a while but were asked to keep it under wraps to allow the owners to announce it at their discretion. After a long run and a lot of good memories, The World Grotto is closing its doors for the last time. Their last official show is scheduled for this Friday, Sept 4th (The New Skool Jumpoff, check our upcoming events for more info) and there will be a farewell potluck/open jam session the next day on Saturday where people are welcome to come out with some food to enjoy drinks and music at this amazing venue one last time.

We are definitely going to miss this place. We’ve had so many good times in the crystal cave but in its wake we are glad to welcome The Catalyst as our new venue of choice in Knoxville, TN.

29.Aug.09 French dudes be killin shit!

Seems like every time we scope a new producer’s work coming out of France, it is straight up mind boggling. Fulgeance is no exception. Hard to describe entirely but can be summed up by words like dope, bass, original and hyphy.

I urge you to check out his just-released “Smart Banging Mix”. It is a breath of fresh air.

29.Aug.09 Saxton departs as STS9’s LD

Saxton, often thought of as the 6th member of STS9 announced on the unofficial band forum thelowdown.org today that he will no longer be running lights for their live show. Honestly, this comes as a huge surprise to us here at Low Freq. We’ve been seeing him kill the rig for years and years (just caught them in Atlanta and the light show was awesome!). He will be missed as an integral part of their live performance.

Direct quote of Saxton from thelowdown.org post titled “Thanks kids… Its been real”

“So, STS9 has decided to go in a different direction with thier lighting and I am apperently no longer the man for the job. Thats what I was told a couple of days ago. Just wanted to give a shout out to all the fans and say, WOW!!! IT HAS BEEN AMAZING!!! Thanks to everyone for all your props and support. Hopefully someone new can help the band create exactly what they are going for, and hopefully it will be EPIC. I will be lighting up the Mike Gordon tour this fall and who knows what is instore for me in the future. LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!
See ya around kidos,   Sax…….”
