Street teaming for many is an excellent entry point into the exciting world of today’s modern music industry. It allows people to get hands on experience in the promotional strategies employed by cutting edge production companies and can help you hit the ground running.

 

If that’s not really your field of interest but you love going to shows, street teaming can also be a great way to see concerts without dropping a single dime to do so.

What do street teamers do?

Street teamers are an invaluable part of the promotional equation. When setting up and spreading word about a show, promoters – who already have an extremely heavy load on their shoulders – often rely on the help of enthusiastic live music fans to get the word out about these events. Street teamers can be deployed to do a number of different things which can include:

 

• Word of mouth promotion
• Hanging posters
• Distributing fliers
• Sharing information on social networking websites such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace
• Posting about events on internet message boards, blogs and forums
• Getting local media to spread the word (ie. college newspapers, radio stations, etc)

And a whole lot more. Your imagination is the limiting factor in what methods you employ to help make each event a success.

 

What do you need to street team?

Really, not a whole lot other than a genuine level of excitement for the event you are working on and a little free time. A digital camera is also needed to document your work. Some people will take fliers/posters and just throw them away hoping to get a free ticket. Because of that we ask that street teamers take snaps of their different flier and poster placements. Quick and easy.

 

Who are we looking for?

We operate regionally more often than not focusing on the following states in the Southeastern US: North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. We will continue expanding as time and resources allow. If you live within or near to that region, we would love to talk to you!

 

Go to college? Even better! College students are plugged into the scene better than just about anybody and we would love to have you join the team.

 

And the ever so important question: What do street teamers get?

Newly enlisted street teamers generally help with promotional work in exchange for guestlist entry to a show for themselves and sometimes additional people (the coveted +1) depending on the event and the amount of work put in. For especially critical shows and when we are able, benefits of street teaming can extend to complimentary bar tabs of varying amount (assuming you are of legal drinking age), backstage access, sponsorship goods (when applicable) and more.

 

Another important part of street teaming (at least for our company) is the possibility of advancement. We run an efficient, streamlined ship here at LFO but are always looking for that one exceptionally competent and motivated person to join our ranks. Working as an effective and resourceful street teamer says a lot to us. We’ll leave it that but it is something to keep in mind…
