19.Oct.09 Asheville Beat Club mixtape series

Starting as a joint effort between LFO and Skew Records, the Asheville Beat Club – as I guess we will tentatively refer to it – is to be a weekly meeting of local (mostly) electronic musicians in the Asheville area. Members will meet every week to showcase a new track each that they have been working on and at the meeting participants will receive feedback and constructive criticism.

At the end of every week following the meeting, a mix will be dropped for free download featuring all completed tracks from that week’s meeting.

Currently the first meeting will consist of DM Stair, Moving Temple, Peripheral and Bookworm but we expect the club to grow steadily, and with it, the mixtapes will become larger and more diverse.

More information will be made available as we slowly get this puppy off the ground. Folks interested in information about participating in the club can contact us about that here.

23.Sep.09 Peripheral drops a FREE demo titled “Night/Day”

Our good friend Mike McBride also known as Peripheral has dropped a FREE demo today on Skew Records titled Night/Day and it is some srsly good shit. Blending elements of hip hop, down-tempo, electronica and a touch of jazz, Peripheral comes up with some amazing soundscapes. Local Asheville people may better know Mike as the keys player and main background producer (of the electronic aspects) for Sonmi Suite. He is an amazingly talented musician and we expect to see him do great things.
